Practicing Intarsia in the Round . . .

. . . with mixed results:

Treefrog socks for Buddy's size 14 feet; toe-ups, EZ Sewn Cast-off

On the positive side, we feel a little more confident about the method. On the not-quite-so-positive side, we find that some people, upon observing our knitted-without-a-chart treefrog, say: "What a cute chicken!"

Cute.

Treefrog. Or chicken. You make the call.

Supercute.

Lorna's Laces in some forgotten colorway from stash; US01 circular needles; Elizabeth Zimmermann Sewn Cast-off, with EZ's Applied I-Cord for the bobble-eyes.

You can learn more about knitting isolated motifs in the round from Wool Gathering #72 in the notes for Meg Swansen's Cuff-to-Cuff Pullover, but we didn't discover this until we had knitted in the Chicken. I mean Tree Frog. What a lot you can learn from sock-knitting!
