Cashmere + Double Happiness

First, OPK (Other People's Knitting) that falls into my IWIHTOT (I Wish I Had Thought Of That) file: tie-dyed cashmere. Yeah baby. Michael Kors (click SKIP THIS AD) and Armand Diradourian. All-righty! Now I've got that out of my system. What a great idea! I may knit some white socks (*not* from cashmere) and then give it a go.

Socks. It's not that I love them so dearly, but that I can't seem to find time right now to do any knitting except the round-and-round kind. Luckily, happily, I am perfectly contented with this new red pair.

Happiness Socks

Fleece Artist merino in "Reds"; duplicate-stitched charted Happiness characters from the out-of-print Tap Dancing Lizard (ISBN: 0934026785). Don't fret if you don't have the book (although you should try to find a copy! it's full of wonderful things!); there are some very nice free charted characters for Peace, Love, Happiness, Fortune, Longevity, and Protected here.

Freshly finished knitted socks put me in mind of poetry. This pair made me think of Li Po, and I recommend translations to you most highly. (ed.:There may be better translations, but this link was handy.)

Since the world can in no way answer our craving,
I will knit red socks and then blog about them.

No not really, only part of that couplet is Li Po. Perhaps I am working too hard.

Since the world can in no way answer our craving,
I will loosen my hair tomorrow and take to a fishing-boat.

There you go. Much more authentic.

Meanwhile, Cousin Bear considers the lily.

Cousin Bear

Enjoy your week--read a little poetry, knit a few socks.
