I'm going to have to check out EZ's book. I like the i-cording finishing, but I don't quite get how you attach it. I assume you're cording up the edge stitches, not making an i-cord and then sewing it on?
How is that different from crocheting the edge? So much I don't yet know, so much to learn...
Posted by David at May 21, 2003 12:33 PMHi! Your Mimbres vest is beautiful - what a great creative approach using 2 variegated yarns! I hope you send a photo to Meg Swansen, I'll bet she'd enjoy seeing it.
Your crocheted steek is wonderful and you've inspired me to try it with my Philospher's Wool cardigan - (not quite to that point yet :-)
I'm a huge fan of EZ and Swansen and love their books and ideas and commentary.
Also love your doggies -they are adorable!!
My dog, Alex, is a daschie mixed with golden retriever - really cute.
Thanks for such an inspiring site!!
Posted by Janeen at May 21, 2003 01:08 PMThank you both for your kind words! I love to hear them. I also like the question, David. The i-cord is actually knitted onto the stitches that are picked up from the armholes and vest front. I'll try to describe it more in my blog entry tomorrow. Thanks for asking!
Janeen, the pups send you tail-wags!
Posted by Lisa at May 21, 2003 01:28 PMMy first intro to attached I-cord was on a felted bag from knitkits. It is so wonderful and provides such a nice finish I'm surprised it's not used more often. Nice work on the vest!
