....thank you for the nice illustrated lesson on crocheted (sp?) steeks.....but I'm a little confused...when in one of my Norwegian classes, taught by a Norwegian , we just sewed down on the body in a U and then cut.....to set in the sleeve...so why is this method advantageous.....from janet in NJ who thought your Mimbres is a vest....so why the need to cut steeks on a vest where there are no sleeves??????....I understand it down the middle front, but why on the armholes which are empty of sleeves?????
Posted by janet at July 7, 2003 09:37 AMLisa - thanks for the lesson! I will try crocheted steeks on my next project - seems a happier way to do it (since I resent the sewing machine). The tatting is amazing! Not that I need another hobby, but the lace can be so beautiful. What a learing curve though! It's amazing what we can do with our hands and some string...

Your cardigan is fabulous too, by the way!
The reason for using steeks on the Mimbre vest is because it was knit in the round, all the way up to the shoulders.
