1986 BMW 528e

~220k miles, auto, sunroof, ABS, OBC, AC, vinyl interior, limited slip, pwr everything, spare wheels with snow tires

This is the perfect winter beater/airport car. I have owned it for 4 years and approximately 40k miles. It's the Energizer Bunny Car (keeps going and going...). Turn the key and it starts and runs well. Parts are cheap. It uses less than a quart of oil in 3k miles. I tow my kart with it, stack unlikely things on the Thule roof rack (not included), and have yet to get stuck in the snow. It was repainted at some point and even looks decent if you're not too close. :)

Spare rims with mounted Dunlop Graspic snows (2 fair, 2 good) included.

Maintenance History:

Receipts for a cat, rear rotors, and rear calipers prior to my purchase. When I bought the car, the following work was performed:

Since then, oil changes have been performed every 3-5k miles. Also:

Additional Info:

The car has a NJ flood title. There's evidence of a crash at some point. Rust is popping up in various places (small holes in floor, driver's side rocker panel, inside trunk and there's rust on the passenger A pillar). The speedometer has only worked sporadically for the past 8 months but CarFax suggests an odometer rollback of 30k+ miles at some point anyway. 220k miles is my best guess. The odometer is reading 179k.

Other problem areas (not an exclusive list):

In other words, it's a typical old E28 BMW. Most of the problems are probably easy fixes if you want a science project. I'll throw in a Bently manual for the adventurous. The car failed NJ inspection (emissions) just as a friend offered me a winter beater upgrade to a 180k mile 525iT. I assume it needs a catalytic converter (high NOx) although the one in it is less than 50k miles old. A cat is $400 from bimmerparts.com.
