NOODLE KUGEL

Ingredients:

1/2 lb cooked noodles

1 tsp sugar

4 eggs - separated (discard yolks)

1/2 lb cottage cheese

1/2 pint sour cream

1 tsp vanilla

1/2 cup milk

sliced apple

raisins*

Bread crumbs, cinnamon, nutmeg, butter (for topping)

*Optional

Directions:

Cook and drain noodles (Pennsylvania Dutch brand are the best) place in large bowl. Add cottage cheese, sour cream, milk, sugar and vanilla. Mix lightly until combined. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Spoon mixture into greased pan. Top with apple slices and raisins if desired. Sprinkle with bread crumbs, cinnamon, nutmeg and dot with butter. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour. Can be served hot or room temperature. A real rich and tasty treat at holiday time!
