MOM'S PEAS AND MACARONI
1/2 box small pasta shells
1 meduim onion, chopped
2-3 cloves fresh garlic, chopped
1/2 tsp oregano
2-3 tbsp oil
1 8 oz can tomato sauce
3 cans water
1 15 oz can peas (do not drain juice)
Cook shell macaroni according to package directions and set aside. Saute the onion and garlic in the oil until soft. Add the oregano, tomato sauce and 3 cans cold water. Simmer on medium/low heat for about 1/2 hour. Add the peas (and the pea juice) and cook an additional 15 minutes. Add the pasta to the pea mixture and serve with grated cheese.
This is extremely simple and so good. Once you add the peas to the sauce, don't cook it too long as the peas will begin to fall apart.
